10 am Intermediate Instrumental and Musicianship Class
This class is for instrumentalists who have some experience (app. 1-3 years) on their instrument. These small group lessons will focus on refining technique and developing musicianship skills through a diverse curriculum. Students will also gain ensemble experience and continue to develop their music reading skills.
11 am Advanced Masterclass and Chamber Music
This class is for advanced musicians to refine and develop leadership, independence, and ensemble skills in small chamber groups (e.g., trios, quartets). Students should already be comfortable playing on their own.
11 am Something Old, Something New
This 45 minute class will explore an old and a new way of making music, both of which are accessible to individuals of all musical abilities. The old method has been used in elementary schools for years and is based on learning to play the recorder. But instead of just focusing on the soprano recorder, this class will teach students the fundamentals of recorder playing in order to transfer these skills to the larger alto, tenor, and bass recorders. The new method of music making is bucket drumming where students will learn to play rhythms using drumsticks and buckets in the style of Stomp and Blue Man Group. Class sessions will be divided to cover material and skills in “Something Old and Something New” each week.
12 pm Ukulele/Guitar Club
This program is for anyone interested in learning to play the ukulele and/or guitar. Students of all ages are welcome to learn the basics, such as strumming patterns, chords, and how to read chord charts. Club members can suggest favorite songs for the group to play. This is a great opportunity for multi-generational families to learn together.
